Explorium Summer Camp Lead Teacher

Reports To: Exploirum Play & Learning Director

Seasonal Full-Time, Hourly

M-F: 8:30-5:00

May 31 – August 5

An Explorium Camp Leader will be responsible for leading children through hands on activities throughout the week. These activities have been pre-planned by the Explorium education team, and the Camp Leader will be provided instructions and have support from The Explorium Play & Learning Director. The Camp Leader is also responsible for the children’s safety and behavior management, with the support of the Explorium staff. The Camp Leader will also be responsible for assisting with check-in and check-out, clean up, and will need to interact with parents.


  • Ability to work with children ages 5 to 11
  • Ability to work with up to 10 children at one time
  • Good organization skills
  • Adaptable
  • Good at communicating with children, parents and Explorium staff
  • Should work well individually and as part of a team, and take initiative when needed
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Background in education, child development, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in early childhood education/elementary education.
  • Experience creating and implementing lesson plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Visitor Services Staff

Reports To: Visitor Services Manager

Part-Time, Hourly

Position Summary:

The Explorium of Lexington seeks a Visitor Services Specialist.  The ideal candidate will display passion for The Explorium mission and the impact they will have on their community; an enthusiastic and creative person with strong organizational and communication skills; quick-thinker; self-motivated; a desire to work with a team of staff and volunteers; and exceptional abilities to work with the public.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer the telephone and answer questions/provide information or screen/direct phone calls to the correct department.
  • Coordinate admission process for visitors
  • Deal with queries from the public and customers
  • Sell memberships
  • Assist visitors on floor
  • Receive deliveries
  • Housekeeping/ janitor duties including museum floor rounds to ensure museum cleanliness and proper exhibit arrangement.
  • Support opening and closing of museum
  • Prepare for birthday parties
  • Assist VSS Manager as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidate should have reliable transportation.  Candidate should also be able to work weekends and some evenings.
